All countries are very very proud ones and the assistance we have recieved (with minimal notable exceptions) has been well intended, enthusiastic and has contributed greatly to our adventures in South America.
Language luckily is essentially Spanish and we have become marginally profocient at ordering drinks (bebidas) food (commida) and Tim has excelled at booking hotel rooms on the phone in Spanish. With a bit of Spinglish thrown in...we are doing ok.
Money is a different story from Chilean Pesos with too many zeros on their bills (about 540 to the USD) to Bolivianos, Peruvian Sols, Argentinia Pesos with the normal number of zeros and divide by 3 for AUD... the world of finance may be in crisis and melt down but we really have done our best to contribute to the economy in these countries.
Speaking of money, I need to change another 100USD (if its worth anything this week) to survive the next two days here. Adios for now.
